A woman died Saturday in Grand Prairie after she rode a bicycle into an intersection against a red light and hit a pickup, police said.

Mayra Ruiz, 24, of Garland was riding west on Hill Street about 6:15 p.m. Saturday when she picked up speed going downhill and was unable to stop. She entered the intersection of Hill Street and Carrier Parkway, where she struck the side of the truck, police said.

Ruiz was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. No one in the pickup was injured, police said.

Police are investigating the crash, which is the seventh traffic fatality in Grand Prairie this year.
