Irving MacArthur’s Carius Key
What he did: Key led the way for Irving MacArthur in wins over Cedar Hill and Grand Prairie. In Tuesday’s eight-point win, Key scored 34 points and then followed that up by scoring 30 of the team’s 43 points in a one-point victory.
Who is he? A 6-foot-3 junior point guard. You can follow him on Twitter @Icariusss. Check out his highlights on hudl here.
He said it: “What was going through my head was that I have to bring my team up and we can’t lose. I did what I had to do to get the win. Everything was cookin. Everything was going in and I was feeling hot so I just kept shooting it. My game includes both, I can shoot and drive to the basket.”
Coach said it: “He’s kind of the spark to get us going. We struggled in the first half of both games and he’s a kid that doesn’t give up on his teammates. He’s a kid that stays confident in the guys around him… He’s also a very underrated guard shot-blocker. Even in the game Friday night, he came up with a big fourth quarter block in transition.” — Head coach Toby Martin
Did you know? Key says he looks up to Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James, as well as Cavs guard Derrick Rose when he was in his prime with the Chicago Bulls. In his free time, Key enjoys hanging out with friends and playing video games.
